HOW It WORKS

CONNECT with people in your CITY, COUNTRY and from OTHER PARTS of the WORLD...

HOW IT WORKS and WHAT YOU CAN DO in BAKOOS:

Bakoos is a new media platform where people can POST FEEDS in a quick & easy-to-use 160-character 'microblog' format in order to SHARE information with others, PROMOTE services and products and, in the near future, also SELL goods (both new and pre-owned items)... keep an eye out for the Bakoos SHOP – coming SOON! The tools & services provided within the Bakoos network can be used by ANYONE – whether you are a private individual or a business organisation – absolutely FREE of charge ... all you need to do is REGISTER

The Bakoos network provides WORLDWIDE coverage, with more than 9000 cities in 196 countries around the globe. In addition to the "world site" level (at www.bakoos.com), there is a LOCAL CITY hub for each and every one of the 9000+ cities, enabling users to address a local audience (people in their city). For example (please take a look): LONDON can be found at bakoos.city/london

Although we now travel all over the world, we still DO many things based on our location (city). Many businesses – like restaurants, smaller businesses and high street shops – operate on a “local level” and address a local audience. We eat at restaurants in our local area, go to our local hairdresser, and buy from the shops on our local high street. We therefore thought it important to make it possible for people to CONNECT at a local (city) level, which is why we have created the LOCAL CITY hubs.

We will continuously be adding NEW FEATURES to the network to complement the existing ones and to make Bakoos more functional, user-friendly and beneficial for our users.

We depend on your feedback:

The Bakoos network is a new and still very young venture and while will make every effort to keep all aspects of the site running smoothly, it might be unrealistic to achieve this all of the time. Therefore, if you do come across any glitches or other technical issues on the site (things that do not work properly), please CONTACT US to let us know. Your co-operation is very much appreciated. Thank you.

POSTING FEEDS:

As soon as you have registered as a Bakoos user, you can START posting feeds right away - please note that you will first have to ACTIVATE your user account by clicking on the ‘account activation link’ contained in the email sent to you after registration. As soon as your account has been activated, you can:p>

SHARE information (f. ex. interesting news items) with the public

PROMOTE a service or a product

INCLUDE a website link in your feed (use our 'URL shortener' to shorten the website URL and "save" characters)

ATTACH up to 4 pictures or a video to your feed in order to give other users more information

NAVIGATING THE SITE:

When logging into the site via the Bakoos homepage (at www.bakoos.com), you will automatically be taken to the "world site" level where you can submit INFO feeds, see your own most recently submitted feeds, and – in the ‘Latest Feeds’ section on the right – see ALL most recently submitted feeds in order of date & time of submission (with the newest feed showing at the very top).

By using the drop-down at the top of the 'Latest Feeds' section, you can narrow down the feeds shown in this section to either 'Country Feeds' (feeds submitted by users in YOUR country only), ‘Shop Feeds’ (feeds only related to items for sale listed in the Bakoos SHOP – coming SOON!) or to 'Following' (feeds submitted by users whom you are following).

To go from the "world site" level to YOUR local city page, simply click on the "Home" button (in orange at the top left menu of the site). This will automatically take you to YOUR local city - the city you selected when signing up for your user account (city of your location).

Should you wish to go back to the "world site" level for the purpose of submitting INFO feeds at any point in time while browsing the site, then simply click on the "bakoos" logo at the top of the site and you will be taken back to the "world site" level.

While browsing a local city page (f. ex. if moving between the individual sections of other items on the page), the "Home" button at the top of the site will take you back to the 'homepage' of that specific city (where you currently are), rather than YOUR local city.

If logging in at the "local city" level, i.e. via a local city page, you will automatically be taken to YOUR local city (the city you selected when signing up for your user account, i.e. the city of your location). From here, you can navigate to other cities in your own or in other countries around the world by using the drop-down at the top of the site. If wishing to go to the "world site" in order to submit INFO feeds at any point in time, simply click on the "bakoos" logo.

There is ANOTHER quick & easy way in which you can navigate the cities in the Bakoos network. Go to bakoos.city – you can simply type bakoos.city into your browser, and you will be taken to a page where you can type the city name into the SEARCH BOX. The search will then provide you with all city names identical and related (similar) to the city name for which you searched, with the country name beside it. Simply select (click on) the specific city you wish to visit and you will automatically be taken to the city homepage.

Alternatively, you can simply type bakoos.city/cityname (for London, type: bakoos.city/london) into your browser to be taken to the relevant city homepage.

THE DIFFERENT ‘SECTIONS’ OF THE BAKOOS SITE EXPLAINED:

INFO feeds section: This section can be used for people to share any kind of information with others, including news items, information on events/gigs or similar, or to promote a service, a product, or a business... pretty much anything as long as the content is within our ‘Rules and Limitations of Use’ (please see the relevant information in our User Agreement)

PROPERTY section: Under this section, people (private individuals as well as estate agents) can list properties for SALE and for RENT (with up to 10 individual pictures) for the relevant city of location. Such ‘Property’ feeds will then show for the relevant location, i.e. the specific city where the individual property is located.

To list a 'Property' for sale or for rent, please select the relevant country & city from the drop-down at the top of the site and click on the 'List a Property' link at the top of the ‘Property’ section (you can bookmark your city page for easy access).

LOCAL MARKETS section: This section is (a) for the promotion of outdoor/indoor markets and car boot sales (market organisers should list their market for the relevant city) and (b) for market stall holders to be able to promote their goods (with up to 4 pictures) under the specific market or car boot sale. Market/Car Boot Sale listings as well as ‘Local Market’ feeds will show for the relevant location only, i.e. the specific city where the market/car boot sale is located.

To list a Market or Car Boot Sale, please select the relevant country & city from the drop-down at the top of the site and click on the 'List a Market or Car Boot Sale' link at the top of the ‘Local Markets’ section.

To submit a ‘Market’ feed, please select the relevant country & city from the drop-down at the top of the site and click on the ‘Post a Market Feed’ link at the top of the ‘Local Markets’ section (you can bookmark your city page for easy access).

SHOP feeds section: All items listed for sale in the ‘Bakoos Shop’ (coming SOON!) will automatically show as ‘feeds’ under the ‘SHOP Feeds’ section for the city where the seller is located. The Bakoos SHOP is still under construction but will be ready for use soon.

LOCAL CITY HUBS:

Our 'local city hubs' are places where you can find feeds and information specific to a particular local CITY. There is a 'local city hub' for every major town around the world. Feeds posted by users (businesses and individuals) are automatically displayed in the local hub for the respective city where such users are located.

Date & Local Time: The date and local time of a city can be found directly under the city name, in the top right-hand corner of the site. Please note that you will have to go to the specific city first.

Local Map: A map of each local city is provided at the bottom of the city homepage – you can ZOOM IN to take a closer look or ZOOM OUT to get a better idea of the surrounding area.

City Name: Clicking on the city name (visible in the top right-hand corner of the city homepage) will give you some basic information about the city, such as the region/state, population, currency, phone code, flag, and a description. Some of the details for many of the cities are NOT YET showing on the site (please bear with us... we are still working on these).

Country Name: Clicking on the country name (visible in the top right-hand corner of the city homepage) will give you some basic information about the country, such as the capital city, population, language, currency, GDP, phone code, flag, description and information on neighbouring countries. Some of the details for some of the countries are NOT YET showing on the site (please bear with us... we are still working on these).

Property & Local Markets section: You will find more information on these sections directly below...

Shop Feeds: Items listed for sale in the Bakoos Shop (coming SOON!) will also show in the seller’s local city hub. As people still buy many things based on their location and as certain (bulky) items might be difficult & expensive to post, buyers might be able to negotiate and arrange collection in order to reduce delivery costs and waiting times, when purchasing such items. Please note that the ‘Bakoos Shop’ is still under construction.

PROPERTY SECTION:

Under our ‘Property’ section, users - both private individuals and professionals/estate agents - are be able to list properties for sale or rent. This service is completely FREE for private individuals to use, but there will be a charge to business entities (estate agents) for listing properties under this section.

To see any properties listed in a local city, use the COUNTRY and CITY selection drop-down boxes at the TOP of our website (on the right) to navigate to the specific location (city) where you would like to look at properties listed for sale or rent. Scroll down to the "Property" section (if necessary) – you can find the "Property" section below the "Info Feeds" section on the left side of the page. Any "feeds" regarding properties listed show under this section.

To see a list of ALL properties listed for sale/rent in that particular city, please click on "Property" at the top of the ‘Property’ section – this will give you a list of all properties available in that particular local city. To view the full listing of a specific property, please click on the individual property name – this will call up the listing page where all the available details about the specific property are shown (including all images).

You currently do not need to be logged into the site to view property listings (or any other content shown on the local city pages), but we might change this in the future.

LOCAL MARKETS SECTION:

You can list a 'Street Market' or 'Car Boot Sale' under the LOCAL MARKETS section for your city. You do not necessarily have to be the market organiser but you will need to supply certain details relevant to the specific market you wish to list when filling the form (f. ex. market days, opening times, stall fees, contact person & tel. etc..). Market STALL HOLDERS will then be able to list items they have for sale by posting “feeds” - with pictures or a video - under the specific market where they hold a stall. Listing items in the LOCAL MARKETS section is also easily possible using your mobile phone (directly from your market/car boot sale stall).

To take a look at the local markets/car boot sales held in a specific city, use the COUNTRY and CITY selection drop-down boxes at the TOP of our website (on the right) to navigate to the specific location (city) where you would like to look at Local Markets/Car Boot Sales.

To access the "List of Local Markets", please click on "Local Markets" at the top of the ‘Local Markets’ section (centre column) – this will give you a list of all Local Markets/Car Boots Sales submitted to our site. To view the full details of a specific market, please click on the individual market name – this will call up a page where all the available details about the specific market are shown.

You currently do not need to be logged into the site to view market/car boot sale listings (or any other content shown on the local city pages), but we might change this in the future.

LOCAL MAPS:

On each LOCAL CITY homepage, a MAP of the specific local area has been provided. To get to the map, click on "Local Map" to the right of the city name.

You can move the map by either using the left/right/up/down arrows inside the circle at the top left corner of the map or by DRAGGING the map in any direction using your mouse (put your cursor onto the map, click and hold down the left button of your mouse and drag the map in any direction).

You can also ZOOM IN and OUT by using the ‘scroll-wheel’ on your mouse (or alternatively by clicking on the + / – zoom options of the ‘zoom bar’ on the left). To switch to the ‘Satellite’ mode, click on "Satellite" in the top right corner of the map. To go back to the ‘Map’ mode, click on "Map".

To easily get back to the top of the page, simply click on the small arrow in the red square at the right bottom corner of the page. This will quickly (with one click) take you to the very top of the page.

FOLLOWING OTHER USERS:

If you find the feeds of a particular user (individual or business) interesting or if you like the products another user is promoting/selling, you have the option to “follow” this user by clicking on the ‘Follow’ button. This will enable you to ‘focus’ on the feeds submitted by your favourite users (selected by you).

To see ONLY the feeds posted by your selected ‘favourite’ users, simply select the option “Following” from the drop-down in the ‘Latest Feeds’ section (section to the right of the feed submission box) – please click on the small arrow next to “All Feeds” to open the drop-down and click on “Following”. Please note that you will have to log into the site first.

There are two ways in which you can follow another user.

1. Click on the “Follow this user” link to the right of the username of a specific feed.
2. Go to the user’s profile page (by clicking on either the username or the user image) and then click on the “Follow” button near the top of the page

How to unfollow a user

You can unfollow a user by either clicking on the “Unfollow this user” link to the right of the username of a feed submitted by the specific user, or by going to the specific user’s profile page and by clicking on the “Unfollow” button near the top of the page.

BAKOOS SHOP (coming SOON!):

Please note that the Bakoos SHOP is still under construction and NOT YET ready for use. Once ready, sellers (both private individuals and businesses) can list items for sale under specific categories. Any items which are advertised/offered for sale in the Bakoos Shop will automatically show (as “feeds”) at the “world site” level (at www.bakoos.com) as well as in the “Shop Feeds” section on the city homepage of the seller’s location - with up to 4 images & URL link to the listing page of the individual item in the Bakoos Shop (for visitors to make purchases).

There will be additional options for sellers to "advertise" their products (items which are listed for sale in the Bakoos Shop) throughout the Bakoos Network on a larger scale (rather than just in their local city), f. ex. throughout their entire country (all the cities in their country of location), or even worldwide.
